During the reconstruction of the 110 kV cable line LNr.212 Skanste–Vairogs, LEC established a new grid connection to the Skanste substation, providing additional electrical capacity to the Skanste district in Riga. This was the first high-voltage cable line in Latvia with embedded optical fibers, enabling real-time temperature monitoring along the entire length of the cable and allowing calculation of maximum transmittable capacity. The total cable length was 2.97 km. The project scope included engineering surveys, trenchless horizontal directional drilling, construction of cable and optical ducts, joint pit construction, cable installation, and joint assembly.
