LEC replaced traction transformers with reactors at the Salaspils and Vecāķi traction substations for VAS Latvijas dzelzceļš. This included full technical design and the selection of suitable replacement equipment, ensuring that the aged transformers—over 30 years old—were replaced without requiring a complete rebuild of the substations. To determine the correct technical solutions, additional measurements and data analysis were conducted at a similar substation. This enabled precise calculation of the required parameters. As these substations used outdated technology, non-standard and creative engineering approaches were required to ensure successful modernization.
