LEC Health Month – May – was marked by exceptional energy and a sporty atmosphere. More than 20 active lifestyle enthusiasts participated in challenges both individually and in teams, achieving impressive results together. Throughout the month, participants collectively burned approximately 350,000 kilocalories — equivalent to about 46 kilograms of weight loss. While the average per participant may not seem substantial, that’s not the key takeaway. What truly matters is the contribution to health, movement, and a shared sense of unity.

Impressive Achievements by Cyclists
Seven LEC employees covered a total of 4,111 kilometers by bicycle during the month — a distance equal to four trips from Riga to Berlin or two full circuits around Latvia’s borders. The energy burned by the cyclists totaled 130,000 kilocalories — the caloric equivalent of more than 200 burgers or 310 liters of cola. Additionally, this initiative helped reduce CO₂ emissions by nearly half a ton, positively impacting the environment and urban air quality.

Runners Pick Up the Pace
Four running enthusiasts collectively ran 356 kilometers, roughly the distance from Riga to Panevėžys. This surpasses the total length of three major marathons (New York, London, and Tokyo). During their runs, they burned approximately 24,000 kilocalories, equivalent to about 100 chocolate bars or over 20 pizzas.

Step Counters Set New Endurance Record
Meanwhile, 14 colleagues walked a combined total of over 4,065 kilometers — comparable to a journey from Riga to Lisbon and beyond. This distance would also be enough to circle Latvia twice or cover two-thirds of the Earth’s radius. The energy expenditure exceeded 200,000 kilocalories, equaling more than 800 chocolate bars or 135 pizzas.

Overall Activity – Nearly a Month in Continuous Motion
In total, the LEC team spent over 40,600 minutes (or 677 hours) engaging in various physical activities throughout the month — nearly 28 full days of movement. This effort burned around 244,000 kilocalories, equivalent to almost 160 pizzas or approximately 500 burgers.

If we convert that time into distances, the results are remarkable:
Walking: approximately 3,385 kilometers — similar to a journey from Riga to Palermo, Italy.
Running: more than 6,000 kilometers — the round-trip distance from Latvia to Spain.
Cycling: over 13,500 kilometers — nearly twice the length of a trip from Riga to Marrakesh!

A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Team
LEC’s Health Month demonstrated not only the participants’ physical endurance but also their willpower, determination, and joy of movement. These results clearly show what can be achieved when there is a goal, team spirit, and a love for staying active.
LEC remains committed to supporting employee well-being and promoting a healthy lifestyle as one of its core pillars for sustainable development.
