The Enzkreis municipal association “Zweckverband Breitbandversorgung” has launched a new phase of fiber optic network expansion in the Königsbach-Stein region. The full turnkey implementation of the project has been entrusted to us, LEC Construction International GmbH, covering all stages of the process — from network design and engineering to construction and final commissioning of the infrastructure.

As part of the project, approximately 40 kilometers of fiber optic backbone and access network infrastructure will be designed and built, providing modern high-speed broadband connections to up to 500 households. Construction works in the Königsbach-Stein area are expected to continue until mid-2028.

The total project budget exceeds EUR 8 million. The majority of the funding is provided through German federal and state support programs, while the local municipality’s co-financing accounts for only around 10% of the overall project costs.

Public interest in the project has already been very strong — more than 60% of households have already applied for a free home connection installation. Construction activities will initially begin in the Stein district and will then gradually expand across the entire municipality.

The main objective of the project is to provide stable, high-speed, and future-proof internet infrastructure throughout the region, with particular focus on areas where broadband coverage has previously been insufficient or technologically outdated.
